Police seize cash, drugs and weapons after stopping to talk to two people

Winnipeg’s Street Crime unit has seized thousands of dollars worth of illegal drugs including methamphetamine and fentanyl along with weapons and cash.

On Saturday, August 11, 2018, officers noticed a vehicle parked with its doors open in the area of Sargent Avenue and Furby Street.

When officers stopped to talk to a man and a woman standing outside the car they noticed a knife and a can of bear spray inside it

Both people were taken into custody and officers then searched the vehicle and found:

– Canister of bear spray
– Knife
– 43 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value of $6,450)
– 2 fentanyl tablets (estimated street value of $160)
– 14 Percocet tablets (estimated street value of $20)
– 12 Clonazepam pills (estimated street value of $60)
– 4 Temazepam pills (estimated street value of $40)
– 9 Hydromorphone pills (estimated street value of $300)
– 5 grams of marijuana (estimated street value of $50)
– 1.26 grams of cocaine (estimated street value of $20)
– 3 mobile phones
– Packaging materials
– $1,160 in Canadian currency

Two additional knives and $575 on cash were also found on the male suspect when officers searched him

 

Harley James McLeod, 29 and Kaitlynn Rae Burke, 26, both from Kenora, Ontario are facing a number of trafficking and weapons charges for their alleged involvement.

Both suspects were detained in custody.
