Man facing drug trafficking and weapons charges after trying to flee police

Winnipeg Police Service Street Crime Unit arrested a 33-year-old male after having to chase him down.

Around 9:30 am on Monday, July 2, 2018, police were trying to stop the suspect after he had committed a Highway Traffic offence near Redwood Avenue and McGregor Street.

As officers approached the man he took off on foot but was quickly caught and placed under arrest. A search of the man found cash, a loaded handgun, ammunition, digital scales, along with small amounts of Meth and Marihuana.

Darryl Andrew Murphy was charged with a number of offences for his alleged involvement including:

 

  • Possess Marihuana
  • Possess For Trafficking (Methamphetamine)
  • Possess Proceeds Of Crime
  • Possess Prohibited Ammunition / Device Obtained By Crime
  • Possess Firearm Obtained By Crime
  • Possess Prohibited Ammunition / Device Knowing Its Unauthorized
  • Possess Prohibited Firearm Knowing Its Unauthorized
  • Transport Firearm Contrary To Regulations
  • Possess Loaded Prohibited Firearm
  • Possess Firearm / Ammunitions Contrary To Prohibition Order ( x4 )
  • Carry Concealed Prohibited Weapon / Firearm / Ammunition ( x2 )
  • Possess Weapon
  • Resist Arrest

He was detained in custody.
