Police put dent in drug trafficking trade in Manitoba

Four people are facing charges after RCMP from Lac du Bonnet and Powerview conducted an eight-month-long investigation.

Beginning in November 2017 police began an investigation into a network of people distributing Cocaine and Methamphetamines in Lac du Bonnet, Fort Alexander, Sagkeeng First Nation and Winnipeg.

Police say that there were four people involved in the planning and organizing of drug trafficking in those communities and that they used various methods to communicate with each other.

 

Jason Letander, 35,  from Fort Alexander, was arrested while in custody on another matter he is facing charges for his alleged involvement including Conspiracy to commit trafficking cocaine, Conspiracy to commit trafficking methamphetamine, Obstruct Justice and ten counts of Uttering threats. He remains in custody

Jacqueline Courchene, 42, from Fort Alexander was arrested and charged for her alleged involvement with Conspiracy to commit trafficking cocaine and Conspiracy to commit trafficking methamphetamine.

Kristen Dube, 35, from Powerview was arrested and charged with Conspiracy to commit trafficking methamphetamine for her alleged involvement.

Amanda McKay, 37, from Winnipeg was arrested and charged for her alleged involvement with Conspiracy to commit trafficking cocaine and Conspiracy to commit trafficking methamphetamines.

 

Police continue to investigate.
