December 19 and 22, 2024, were eventful days for law enforcement at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport. Officers from the Manitoba Integrated Law Enforcement Team (MILET) and the Roving Traffic Unit (RTU) successfully intercepted large quantities of illegal drugs from two individuals attempting to board flights.
First Arrest
On December 19, 2024, Kenneth Ross, a 32-year-old resident of Gods Lake Narrows, was arrested while trying to board a flight to Gods River, Manitoba. A search of Ross led to the discovery of 49 grams of methamphetamine. Ross has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and has been released with a court date pending.
Second Arrest
On December 22, 2024, a 30-year-old woman from Gods River, identified as Tanya Okemow, was also arrested at the airport. Security personnel seized a package from Okemow containing 67 grams of cocaine and 56 grams of methamphetamine. Okemow faces two counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and has been released for a court date.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) estimate the street value of the seized drugs to be between $50,000 and $70,000.
