Aggressive taxi passenger nabbed for drug trafficking

Winnipeg Police have arrested a 33-year-old male after being flagged down by a cabbie over an aggressive fare.

Just after 1:00 am on Monday, February 11, 2019, a taxi picked up a fare in the area of Burrows Avenue and Salter Street.

A male, along with two females got into the cab and told the driver to take them to various locations across the city. When the driver refused the male became aggressive and began to hit the protective shield behind the driver.

At this point, the driver flagged down a passing police patrol supervisor. As the officer approached the cab the male bolted from the car on foot. the officer gave chase.

During the foot pursuit the the male dropped $140 in cash and then began to remove several layers of clothing.

The suspect was tracked to a yard in the 400 block of Manitoba Avenue. Police used taser to subdue the male and place him under arrest.

A search of the accused found 13.4 grams of Meth worth about $2,000 on the street.

Jason Shawn Miller from Winnipeg is facing charges for his alleged involvement of Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine.

Miller was detained in custody.
