    Selfie-taking driver nabbed then charged for drug trafficking

    An alleged drug trafficker may be cursing stricter electronic device laws that came into force on November 1, 2018 after police saw him driving a vehicle while simultaneously using both hands to take an apparent selfie.

    Police say that early this morning, November 13, 2018, they were in the area of Portage Avenue and Edmonton Street when they saw the infraction. A traffic stop was conducted and officers then noticed a bag of what looked like methamphetamine inside the vehicle. The man was arrested and the vehicle searched.

    Police seized more than $64,000 worth of drugs, $2,285 in cash, 2 mobile phones and a digital scale.

    38-year-old Randy Billy Bastien Is now facing multiple drug trafficking charges along with Possession of Proceeds of Crime under $ 5,000 for his alleged involvement.

    He was remanded in custody.
