Western Canadian drug network taken down by Winnipeg Police investigation

A year-long investigation by Winnipeg Police known as Project Riverbank has taken down a western Canada wide illicit drug network.

In early 2018 members from the Winnipeg Police Service Organized, Crime Division began an investigation into a sophisticated drug network that supplied a number of illegal drugs across the prairies and British Columbia. Working in cooperation with other police agencies including the RCMP over the last ten months the complex investigation ended in a series of raids across the west on October 18, 2018.

16 search warrants were executed including 8 in Winnipeg, 4 in Regina, 1 in Edmonton and 3 in British Columbia’s lower mainland. The raids resulted in 10 adults arrested, including six from Winnipeg, who are collectively facing 156 charges for conspiracy, trafficking, weapons and proceeds of crime.

In total $2.7 million in drugs, cash and property were seized across the west including $1.3 million in Manitoba.
