Drug investigation nabs 26 people seizes $2.3 million in assets

Winnipeg police drug investigators completed a six-month investigation into an organization that was producing and trafficking crack cocaine.

The investigation dubbed Project Matriarch began in October 2020 and focused on a Point Douglas-based drug trafficking ring.

Investigators seized cocaine, crack cocaine, cash, a loaded firearm, ammunition, jewelry, a 2016 BMW X5 and a skid steer. Statements of claim for Criminal Property Forfeiture have been filed on 10 residential properties and multiple bank accounts. Police estimate the value of the seized property to be $2,343,497.

Officers laid more than 100 criminal charges against 26 people for their alleged involvement including:
