Property left at the scene of collision identifies car thief, say police

Winnipeg Police have arrested a 32-year-old male after he allegedly stole a vehicle from a hotel parking lot then slammed it into a brick wall.

It happened around 3:00 pm on Friday May 3, 2019, near the Moray Street Bridge.

When an officer arrived on scene the driver had already fled the vehicle but he had dropped some personal property that identified him.

Police say that the suspect returned to the area a short time later and was placed under arrest.

Emile Mario Freunt has been charged for his alleged involvement with Theft of a Motor Vehicle.

He was detained in custody.
