Driving without headlights leads to drugs and weapon arrests

Winnipeg police made a drug and weapon bust on Thursday night, May 12, 2022, after pulling over a vehicle that was driving without headlights on Dufferin Avenue,

Officers say that as they approached the vehicle they saw packaging materials in plain view which is indicative of drug trafficking. The Male driver and female passenger were arrested.

A search of the vehicle uncovered about 10 ounces of Fentanyl that is worth about $35,000 on the street. Officers also found $26,000 in cash, a replica handgun, packaging materials and drug paraphernalia.

the 37-year-old male driver was charged for his alleged involvement with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Over $5000
  • Possession of a Weapon

The 28-year-old female passenger was charged with Possession of a Weapon for her alleged involvement.

Both accused were released on undertakings as mandated by the Criminal Code.
