Stolen vehicle driver rams police cruiser several times

A 25-year-old male is in custody after he allegedly used a stolen vehicle to ram a police cruiser.

Around 3:00 am Tuesday, October 1, 2019 police found the stolen vehicle with two people inside behind a home on Redwood Avenue. When officers turned on their emergency lights the driver of the stolen vehicle put it in gear and reversed into the cruiser. He then pulled forward and again reversed into the cruiser.

The driver then fled the vehicle and took off on foot. The female passenger was arrested at the scene.

A K-9 unit was called in and tracked the suspect to the 300 block of Burrows Avenue. Police say he suffered minor injuries when the Police Service Dog caught up to him.

Dylan Sidney Strykiwsky is facing charges for his alleged involvement including two counts of Assault Peace Officer, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited by Order Under Criminal Code and three counts of Fail to Comply with Recognizance.

He was held in custody.

The 23-year-old female passenger was released on a promise to appear in court after being charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.
