Driver fleeing police in stolen vehicle slams into an SUV

A 20-year-old male is in custody after trying to flee from police in a stolen vehicle.

Officers first noticed the vehicle around 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 in the area of Raleigh Street and Chalmers Avenue.

As police followed the suspect vehicle the driver came to an abrupt stop then drove up onto a curb and took off.

Police watched as the suspect drove in a dangerous manner and then collided with an SUV at Chalmers Avenue and Watt Street.

The driver of the stolen vehicle then took off on foot with police on his heels. He was captured in the 400 block of Harbison Avenue West.

The people in the SUV were checked by paramedics but didn’t require any further medical attention.

Inside the stolen vehicle police found an large knife along with a small quantity of Meth.

Brendan James Neufeld, 20 from Winnipeg, has been charged for his alleged involvement with:  Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance, Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer, Possession of a Weapon, Possession of Scheduled Substance – Methamphetamine, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

 He was detained in custody.
