Winnipeg Police Service officers were involved in a prolonged chase early Tuesday morning, February 11, 2020, that began after a stolen vehicle was spotted on Broadway.
Air-1 tracked the vehicle as it made its way westbound towards the Perimeter Highway.
Police say the vehicle was being driven in an erratic manner and as the driver tried to evade police he disobeyed traffic control devices, drove into oncoming traffic and at times was seen speeding.
As the vehicle made its way westbound on Center Port Highway it travelled over two stop sticks that were successful in deflating the tires.
Shortly after turning southbound on the West Perimeter Highway the driver lost control and came to a stop in the median.
On exiting the car the suspect tossed several items into the snow including a loaded shotgun.
A search of the vehicle uncovered a hunting knife, a pellet handgun and ammunition. Police also found a cellphone and stolen ID from a February 4th robbery.
The vehicle the suspect was driving had been reported stolen to police on February 9, 2020, from a parking lot.
Police have charged 32-year-old Lee Edward Douglas Pashe for his alleged involvement with firearm, property and driving offences.
Pashe was detained in custody.
Just one day earlier police were involved in two simultaneous pursuits of stolen vehicles.
In those cases, a 25-year-old male and a 38-year-old female were arrested and charged.
