RCMP have laid multiple charges after a man driving a stolen vehicle crashes head-on into a police cruiser.
Incident began jus before midnight on Friday, December 29, 2023. RCMP had received a report that a suspicious vehicle had been seen on Highway 52 in Mitchell. Officers quickly learned the vehicle had been stolen.
Initial patrols of the area did not locate the vehicle but just over an hour later RCMP received a second call that the vehicle was now on Road 19N in the RM of De Salaberry.
Officers responded and when they tried to make a traffic stop the driver of the stolen vehicle fled colliding head-on with the RCMP vehicle.
The driver was arrested and taken to hospital as a precaution. The officer in the vehicle involved in the collision was taken to hostital with non-life-threatening injuries
Police have charged 30-year-old Kyle Enns of Grunthal for his alleged involvement. He has been charged with:
- Assault on Peace Officer with a Weapon
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm
- Flight from Peace Officer
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Firearm knowing Possession is Unauthorized
- Unsafe Storage of Firearm
- Fail to Comply x3
Enns remains in custody.
