RCMP narrowly avoid a head-on collision, driver fined

An RCMP officer patroling the highways last week had what for most of us would be a heart-thumping moment.

Dashcam footage shows the officer driving along Highway 317 when a vehicle crosses the centre line into the officer’s lane.

The patrol unit was forced onto the shoulder in order to prevent a head-on collision.

When the 19-year-old female driver was pulled over she told police that she “may” have been distracted.

The officer charged the woman with careless driving which comes with a $672 fine. She was also issued a serious offence notice.
