Speeding costs driver $979 plus a license review

RCMP have ticketed and charged a 24-year-old male driver after officers caught him driving dangerously on Sunday February 17, 2019.

Police say the driver was weaving in and out of traffic on Highway 9 at more than 150 km/h. The speed limit on that stretch of highway is 80 km/h.

The driver was also under the influence and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle. He was fined $979 for the speeding infraction and will also face a license review with Manitoba Public Insurance.

RCMP say that in 2018 49% of fatal vehicle collisions were related to speed and 46% involved drivers who were impaired.
