A dumbstruck driver is facing Criminal Negligence Causing Death and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death after a 74-year-old male was killed in a two-vehicle collision in the RM of Portage la Prairie.

Police say the collision happened around 10:25 am at the intersection of Road 68 North and Road 38 West. Police say the 50-year-old male drive of the dumbstruck failed to stop at the stop sign and proceeded through the intersection colliding with a southbound pickup truck being driven by the deceased. The impact of the collision caused the pickup to roll over onto its roof the ditch.

Investigators do not believe alcohol played a factor in the collision. The intersection was snow packed and ice covered at th time of the collision.
