Driver dead from a head-on collision on the Perimeter Highway

RCMP are investigating a fatal collision on the Perimeter Highway late Tuesday night, October 6, 2020.

Police say that they were alerted to a vehicle travelling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the highway between Main Street and Henderson Highway.

As officers were responding they were advised that a multi-vehicle collision had occurred.

The 78-year-old driver of the eastbound vehicle collided head-on with a vehicle being driven by a 21-year-old male. Moments later they were hit by a semi-truck being driven by a 41-year-old male.

Police say the 78-year-old male was taken to hospital but died shortly afterwards. The 21-year-old suffered non-life threatening injuries injuries and was also taken to hospital. The driver of the semi did not suffer any injuries.

RCMP continue to investigate.
