Driver charged in Perimeter Hwy collision with semi

RCMP are investigating a collision between a vehicle and a semi truck on the Perimeter Highway near St. Mary’s Road late Thursday night, August 26, 2021.

Police say the around 10:15 pm a vehicle travelling northbound on St. Mary’s Road entered the intersection and hit the trailer of an eastbound semi-truck. Investigators say the semi had the green light at the time of the collision.

The 23-year-old female driver of the northbound vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The 23-year-old male driver of the semi was not injured in the collision.

RCMP have charged the female driver for disobeying a traffic control device, carrying liquor in a vehicle and as a Novice Driver Operate Equipment having Alcohol in the Blood.

Police say that the investigation I continuing and that additional charges are possible.
