Driver charged in fatal collision on Highway 7

A 23-year-old male is facing charges after a vehicle he was driving collided with a minivan on Highway 7.

According to RCMP the pickup truck being driven by the accused was travelling westbound on Road 107 North about 5 kilometres south of Fraserwood when it entered the intersection of Highway 7 and collided with the van.

During the collision, a 38-year-old male was ejected from the minivan and pronounced dead at the scene. Five other people in the minivan were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The 23-year-old driver of the pickup and his passenger were treated at the scene by EMS.

Officers arrest the accused at the scene for his alleged involvement. he has been charged with  Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death and five counts of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm.

RCMP continue to investigate.
