Driver charged for impaired after collision with pedestrian

Winnipeg Police are investigating a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian in a wheelchair on Main Street on Wednesday night, December 29, 2021.

It happened around 9:00 pm near Inkster Boulevard. A Police patrol supervisor came across the collision and rendered first aid to the female victim in her 50s. She was taken to hospital in critical condition but has since been upgraded to stable.

The 46-year-old male driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. When other officers arrived he was placed under arrest for impaired driving. He has been charged for his alleged involvement with Operation of a Conveyance CBH While Impaired to Any Degree by BAC or Drug or a Combination of Both and Fail or Refuse to Comply with Demand.

Police continue to investigate and ask anyone who may have witnesses the collision or has information about it is asked to contact the Traffic Division at (204) 986-7085 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-8477.
