Driver charged after passenger killed in single-vehicle collision

RCMP have charged a 32-year-old male from Gods Lake Narrows in connection to a fatal collision on Tuesday afternoon, November 24, 2020.

Police say that the male and his 33-year-old female passenger were travelling southbound on West Road in Peguis First Nation when he tried to move to the side of the road to make room for oncoming traffic.

The driver lost control of the vehicle, went into the ditch and hit a driveway approach. The passenger from Fisher River Cree Nation was thrown from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver is facing charges for his alleged involvement with Impaired Driving Causing Death.

RCMP continue to investigate.
