Driver Blinded by Sun, Hits Cyclist

Winnipeg Police report that Wednesday evening around 8:00pm a cyclist was hit by a BMW at Grovesnor Avenue and Wellington Crescent.

The BMW was heading westbound on Wellington Crescent approaching Grosvenor Avenue. The driver proceeded to turn left onto Grosvenor Avenue when the collision occurred.

A 22 year old male cyclist sustained multiple injuries and was transported to hospital in unstable condition but as since been upgraded to stable condition.

Police say that it appears that the driver of the BMW was blinded temporarily by the sun as he made the left turn.

Police continue to investigate.
