Driver arrested in fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision

RCMP in Little Grand Rapids have arrested and charged a 37-year-old female in connection to a fatal collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

On Wednesday February 16, 2022, police say a 24-year-old male was walking along the main road in Pauingassi First Nation around 12:50 pm when he was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle slid into the snowbank and the driver and passenger fled the area on foot.

The male victim was taken to the nursing station but did not survive his injuries.

Officers identified the driver of the vehicle and found her at her residence and placed her under arrest. She was taken to the detachment and given a breath test that indicated she was over the legal limit.

Stephanie keeper has been charged for her alleged involvement with mpaired Operation of a Conveyance Causing Death and Failure to Stop after Accident.

RCMP continue to investigate.
