A lengthy police investigation has led to dozens and dozens of luring and child sexual exploitation-related charges being laid against 26-year-old Jaime Mari Adri Centeno of Neepawa.
Police believe the man used Snapchat to pose online as a teenager, asking females between 11 and 17 years old to share sexual photos with him. He is also alleged to have met some of his victims in person.
It is believed the most recent crimes took place between March 2019 and April 2021, ending when Centeno was re-arrested in the weeks following a traffic stop.
In March of 2018, Centano had been charged with extortion, possessing child pornography and luring, and released on conditions to await trial in Brandon. During the traffic stop on April 18 2021, police say he was found to be breaching his court-ordered release condition. The Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) became involved and Centeno was arrested on April 28, 2021.
He has remained in custody since that time. The ICE Unit continued its investigation and discovered Centeno was communicating extensively with young women and girls.
“We are very concerned there may be other victims,” said Cst. Gord Olson of the RCMP ICE Unit. “We are asking anyone with information to contact their local police department.”
The unit says names Centeno used on Snapchat include: kingmac6675; itsjaaaay1; brandonnjay6493; jaimec044; privateaccn2021; neepawanoypi20; and jcntno2021.
Centeno is charged with 88 offences that include:
- 34 counts of luring a child
- 21 counts of making child pornography
- eight counts of invitation to sexual touching
- five counts of sexual interference
- five counts of sexual assault
- five counts of making sexually explicit material available to a child
- five counts of failing to comply with release order
