A 38-year-old male been charged in connection to a domestic dispute that escalated into a standoff with police.
On Sunday May 22, 2022, police were called to a home in the Maples area just after 4:00 am. When officers arrived they encountered the accused with a knife. The male then barricaded himself in a bedroom with several children.
Police say that over the next four hours a standoff with officers occurred. Members of the Crisis Negotiation Unit and Tactical Support Team were able to resolve the situation safely and take the male into custody.
The accused has been charged for his alleged involvement with three counts of Forcible Confinement, Possession of a Weapon, Break & Enter with Intent.
Police have not released the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the family.
