Winnipeg’s Animal Services Agency says that the owner of four dogs involved in a vicious attack on Saturday February 29, 2020 has been charged.

Police were called to the Capri Motel on Pembina Highway after three people were attacked by the dogs. All three suffered serious injuries including the dogs owner.
Police, Animal Service and other emergency workers spent several hours searching for the animals.

Two of the animals were located in nearby neighbourhoods and put down by police.
The third adult dog and a puppy were hit by a vehicle on Pembina Highway.
Animal Services says that the adult dog was an American Pit Bull Terrier. The puppy was too young to confirm a breed. The two dogs shot by police were not examined by animal services and the breeds could not be determined by them.

The adult Pit Bull was euthanized. The puppy was sent to a rescue organization.
An investigation into the animal has determined that none of the dogs had been spayed or neutered and none had been licensed in the City of Winnipeg.
Officials say that it does not appear that the dogs had rabies or were used for fighting.
Although the owner has been charged under the Responsible Pet Ownership By-law the city says they won’t release the specific charge due to privacy reasons.
