Winnipeg doctor charged with sexual assault of 19-year-old patient

Police have arrested an charged a 51-year-old male doctor in connection with a sexual assault reported to them from a 19-year-old female patient.

Police were told that on October 19, 2017, the victim went to a walk-in medical clinic in the 300 block of Johnson Avenue West. She was taken into a treatment room and shortly afterwards a doctor who she had been treated by previously entered and closed the door.

The victim claimed she was examined in an inappropriate manner and the examination escalated to the point that the victim was seriously sexually assaulted by the doctor.

According to police, the victim received injuries during the sexual assault that supported her story of the events.

Later that day the woman went to hospital to get treatment for her injuries. She was treated and released.

On Friday, October 20, 2017, a report was made to police and the Sex Crimes Unit began an investigation.

The suspect Amir Houshang Mazhariravesh, AKA  Dr Amir Ravesh, turned himself into police. Dr Ravesh has been charged with Sexual Assault.

He was released on a Promise to Appear.
