‘Do Not Consume’ order lifted for Victoria Beach water

The ‘Do Not Consume’ ban that was placed on drinking water in the town of Victoria Beach on Saturday July 28, 2018, has been lifted.

Early Tuesday evening July 31, 2018 the province’s medical officer of health and manitoba Sustainable Development recinded the order after testing showed no presence of coliform bacteria and chlorine residuals have remained stable.

The order was put into place when it was learned a chemical was added to the water treatment process that resulted in unacceptable low levels of chlorine in the treated water.

The province said at the time that the issue was detected before any significant exposure to the unsafe water happened.
