Death toll reaches 705, case numbers increase

Manitoba Public Health announced today that there are 176 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province. However, nine were removed due to data corrections making the net new total 167. It was also announced that 10 more people have died from COVID-19.

Those who died from the virus have been identified as:

  • a female in her 40s from the Northern health region;
  • a male in his 70s from the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • a male in his 70s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Golden Links Lodge;
  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Seven Oaks Hospital 4U8-12;
  • a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Seven Oaks Hospital 4U8-12;
  • a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Seven Oaks Hospital 4U8-12;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region.

The five-day test positivity rate is 10.4 per cent provincially and 11.5 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 25,541.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • 11 cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region
  • 31 cases in the Northern health region
  • 12 cases in Prairie Mountain health region
  • 13 cases in the Southern health region
  • 109 cases in the Winnipeg health region

There are currently 4,460 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 20,376 people who have been listed as recovered.

329 are being treated in the hospital of which 237 are considered infectious. 37 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 32 of them still considered infectious.

705 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

1,845 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 430,597 tests completed.

Outbreaks have been declared over at Oakview Manor in Blumenort, River Park Gardens Personal Care Home in Winnipeg and the Thompson General Hospital MSP ward in Thompson.
