Death toll increases by five, 94 new cases identified

94 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province today. Two cases have been removed due to data corrections the net-new case total is 92. Five more people died from the virus.

Those who died from COVID-19 are identified as:

  • a female in her 90s from Prairie Mountain Health, linked to the outbreak at Fairview Personal Care Home;
  • a male in his 70s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Seven Oaks General Hospital 5U1-3; and
  • a male in his 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Fred Douglas Lodge.

The five-day test positivity rate is currently 10.3 per cent provincially and 6.4 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 28,902.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • No cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 36 cases in the Northern health region;
  • 15 cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • Two cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
  • 41 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 3,492 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 24,601 people listed as recovered.

277 people are being treated in the hospital of which 140 are considered infectious. 38 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 25 of them still considered infectious.

809 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

1,118 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 467,785 tests completed.
