Death of man in Opaskwayak Cree Nation under investigation

Police in Manitoba are investigating the death of a 37-year-old man in a home in Opaskwayak Cree Nation.

Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) officers responded to the residence at 11:00 pm on March 25, 2023, after receiving a report about an unresponsive male located inside.

The male was taken to hospital but died soon afterwards from his injuries.

The death is being treated as a homicide and investigators are looking to speak with two people who had stopped to help the victim obtain medical attention from Emergency Medical Services earlier in the morning, around 1:30 am,

MFNPS, RCMP Major Crimes Services and RCMP Forensic Identification Services are continuing the investigation.
