Cyclist in critical condition after hit-and-run collision on Notre Dame Avenue

Winnipeg Police have released more information regarding a collision that News 4 first told you about on Saturday.

Around 8:00 pm on Friday, June 30, 2023, police were called to the intersection of Notre Dame Avenue and Isabel Street for the report of a collision between a vehicle and a bicycle. When officers arrived they found a 63-year-old man laying on the roadway unconscious. The victim was taken to hospital in unstable condition but was later downgraded to critical but stable.

Police say the vehicle fled the scene but was located less than three blocks away in the 100 block of Juno Street. A heavily damaged grey 2007 Pontiac G6 was recovered. Witnesses saw four males flee from the vehicle as it was abondoned.

Investigators say that the victm was crossing Notre Dame Avenue against the red light when he was hit by the vehicle, throwing him to the ground.

Police are looking for help with information about where the suspect vehicle may have been travelling around the time of the collision. Investigators would also like anyone with dashcam, doorbell or security surveillance footage to contact them at (204) 986-7085 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-8477
