RCMP are investigating a fatal house fire in Cross Lake in the early morning hours of Friday, August 9, 2019.
Cross Lake is 536 kilometres north of Winnipeg.
Police say at officers in the community noticed smoke coming from the residence but could not get in through the front door due to the heavy smoke.
Officers then broke several windows to help clear the home of the smoke and saw a female on the floor. The officers went inside the burning building and pulled the 93-year-old female out. She was taken to hospital but did not survive her injuries.
Police along with the Office of the Fire Commissioner are continuing to investigate.
