Winnipeg is seen as the most dangerous city in Canada.

In a poll conducted by Mainstreet / Postmedia of  4,213 Canadians, Winnipeg is seen as the most dangerous city in the country. 

According to Statistics Canada, however it is actually Saskatoon that holds that honour, followed by Regina, Edmonton and Vancouver. The survey is based on the perceived safety of cities, not the actual data, said Quito Maggi, president of Mainstream Research.

2. Charlottetown (65% see it as safe, 18% see it as unsafe, 17% are unsure). Net score: 47%

4. St. John’s (58% see it as safe, 20% see it as unsafe, 22% are unsure). Net score: 38%

In the ranking of the actual crime index Quebec city is the safest city in Canada. Ottawa comes in third and Winnipeg tenth. 

The results of the Mainstreet / Postmedia poll are interesting in so much as they paint a picture of how Canadians see their neighbours in other parts of the country.
