CRIME | SEND IN THE CLOWNS, SIGHTINGS IN WINNIPEG

THEY’RE HEEEEERE!

Clowns… it was just a matter of time before the damn creepy clowns showed up in Winnipeg.

On  Saturday night, October 15, 2016, Winnipeg Police received a report that two clowns were chasing people in the Valley Gardens area of the city. Police talked to serval people in the area who told them they had been chased and were concerned for their safety as it appeared one of the clowns was possibly armed.

As the investigation continued police located two 17 year old males in the 700 block of Kimberley Avenue and found them in possession of clown masks and a large flashlight.

Although the pair we not charged with mischief or weapons offences they were cautioned for their actions and alleged involvement.

While it is not illegal to dress up as a clown police say charges can be laid if a person is believed to have committed acts of mischief or threatened, assaulted or harassed other people.

Police say that although the “creepy clown” sightings appear to be pranksters deliberately attempting to scare people they take these reports seriously.
