Crews battle Gallagher Avenue fire into the early morning hours

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was called to a fire in a one-and-a-half storey home on Gallagher Avenue around 7:20 pm Friday evening, February 14, 2020.

When crews arrived the home was fully involved with heavy flames and thick smoke billowing from the structure.

Crews launched a defensive attack from the outside using an aerial ladder.

Although the blaze was declared under control at 10:30 pm firefighters continued to battle the flames for several more hours.

Everyone who lived in the home was accounted for according to fire officials and there were no injuries reported.

The building is expected to be a total loss.

A neighbouring home also suffered some damage from a fire extension.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
