A major crash west of Brandon closed the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1) between Brandon and Virden in both directions on Thursday morning April 12, 2018.
RCMP say that the cause of the collision appears to have been slippery roads.
No life-threatening injuries were reported in the accident that saw four semi-trucks and a pickup truck slam into each other with at least one spilling their load across the highway.
RCMP say that the Eastbound lane reopened just after noon and they expect the Westbound lane to open around 1:00 pm.
Conditions in the area were poor and police report that there were a handful of other crashes in the same area
