Unions serve strike notice to CP Rail

The unions representing workers at CP Rail have served the company with a strike notice.

That means that as of 10:00 pm eastern on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, members from the Teamsters and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) can walk off the job.

The Teamsters represent more than 3,000 conductors and locomotive engineers at CP while IBEW represents approximately 360 signals and communication workers at the company.

According to the unions they were both given overwhelming strike mandates from their members during voting in early April 2018. (94.2%-Teamsters, 98.3% IBEW).

According to a release issued by CP Rail they have implemented their “work stoppage contingency plan” but are hopeful they can reach an agreement with both unions.
