Late Saturday night, November 24, 2018, a Winnipeg Police patrol supervisor was in the Rivergrove area when he spotted a large coyote on the sidewalk on River Grove Drive near Saul Miller Drive stalking an elderly man and his dog.
The supervisor estimated the coyote was about 30 yards away from the man. Using the airhorn on his cruiser the officer was able to scare off the predator.
AIR-1 searched the area and spotted several coyotes by the river on Shooters Golf Course. Originally police had identified the golf course as Kildonan Park.

Police say that they are aware of several recent sightings of coyotes in that area of the city and are advising people to keep their dogs on a leash and to pick up small dogs if they are confronted.
