Manitoba Public Health announced that as of 9:30 am today there are 272 new cases of COVID-19 in the province and an additional nine deaths including:
- a male in his 70s from the Winnipeg health region;
- a male in his 70s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Saul and Claribel Simkin Centre;
- a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region;
- a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region;
- a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Park Manor Care Home;
- a female in her 90s from the Interlake-Eastern health region, linked to the outbreak at the Kin Place;
- a female in her 90s from the Prairie Mountain Health region, linked to the outbreak at Fairview Home;
- a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Charleswood Care Centre;
- a male in his 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Holy Family Personal Care Home.
The current provincial five-day test positivity rate is 14.2 per cent. The test positivity rate in Winnipeg is 13.4 per cent. The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 21,535.
The data shows that of today’s cases, 15 are from the Interlake-Eastern health region, 53 from Northern health region, 49 from the Prairie Mountain Health region, 25 from Southern Health region and 130 from the Winnipeg health region.
There are currently 311 people being treated in hospital for the virus including 44 who are being treated in intensive care.
As of today 508 Manitobans have died from COVID-19.
There are currently 5,762 active cases. 15,265 people are listed as recovered.
There were 1,561 test processed yesterday bringing the total number of tests since February to 392,078.
