On Friday evening, October 16, 2020, St. Boniface Hospital declared an outbreak of COVID-19 in unit E6.
Two patients tested positive for the virus and officials say they acquired the virus while in hospital. Under Manitoba Public Health guidelines when two or more patients are identified within the facility it meets the definition of an outbreak.
Due to the outbreak the hospital tested all contacts who may have been exposed on the unit between October 5 and October 16.
The E6 Unit is closed for admissions and visitation is restricted. Families are encourage to visit virtually said a statement from the hospital.
St. Boniface Hospital remains open and clinics and procedures will continue as usual.
