COVID-19 deaths in Manitoba rise to more than 600

Manitoba Public Health announced that as of 9:30 am today there are 201 new cases of COVID-19 in the province and an additional 15 deaths including:

  • a male in his 70s from the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • a male in his 80s from the Interlake-Eastern health region, linked to an outbreak at Kin Place in Oakbank;
  • a female in her 70s from the Northern health region;
  • a male in his 70s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region;
  • a female in her 70s from the Southern Health – Santé Sud health region, linked to an outbreak at the Portage District General Hospital Medical Unit in Portage la Prairie;
  • a male in his 80s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region, linked to an outbreak at Morris General Hospital in Morris;
  • a male in his 40s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a male in his 40s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to an outbreak at Grace Hospital Unit 3 North;
  • a female in her 60s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to an outbreak at the Poseidon Care Centre;
  • a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to an outbreak at Park Manor Care Home;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to an outbreak at the Poseidon Care Centre;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to an outbreak at Oakview Place personal care home.

The current provincial five-day test positivity rate is 10.4 per cent. The test positivity rate in Winnipeg is 10.2 per cent. The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 23,381.

The data shows that of today’s cases, 15 are from the Interlake-Eastern health region, 31 from Northern health region, 14 from the Prairie Mountain Health region, 23 from Southern Health region and 118 from the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 259 people being treated in hospital for the virus including 37 who are being treated in intensive care.

As of today 605 Manitobans have died from COVID-19.

There are currently 4,427 active cases. 18,349 people are listed as recovered.

There were 2,208 tests processed yesterday bringing the total number of tests since February to 409,443.

Manitoba Public Health is advising that people only leave their homes for essential purposes, avoid crowded spaces, physically distance and wear a mask in indoor public places.
