COVID-19 cases spike in Manitoba on Sunday

On Sunday, Aug 2, 2020, Manitoba Public Health announced 18 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the province as of 9:30 am. The total number of lab-confirmed and probable cases of the virus in Manitoba is 435.

According to provincial data on COVID-19 the last time there was a higher single day increase in cases was on April 1, 2020 when there were 33 cases. Between July 13 and August 2 there have been 110 cases of the virus identified in the province.

To put the numbers in perspective in March there were 132 cases, April had 146, May had 17 and June had 30 cases. There were no new cases in Manitoba between June 29 and July 12.

On weekends public health limits the available COVID-19 information to the number of new cases and total lab-confirmed / probable cases in the province.

Information about case locations, hospitalizations, active cases and testing will not be released until Tuesday.
