COVID-19 cases continued to climb on the weekend along with 20 new deaths

Manitoba has reported 717 new cases of COVID-19 today along with 20 additional deaths reported over the weekend including two on Saturday, January 15; 12 on Sunday, Jan 16 and six on Monday, Jan 17. The death toll is 1,463 in the province due to the virus.

Hospitalizations are also up with 601 people being treated for COVID-19 including 47 receiving treatment in ICU.

The provincial test positivity rate is at 34.5 per cent.

There are currently 39,961 active cases in Manitoba

2,356 lab tests were taken yesterday. That brings the total number of COVID-19 tests completed in the province since February 2020 to 1,349,310.

Outbreaks have been declared at:

  • 4St. Boniface Hospital, unit B5ME, Winnipeg;
  • Riverview Health Centre, Winnipeg;
  • Deer Lodge Centre, Lodge 6 East, Winnipeg;
  • Seven Oaks General Hospital, unit 3U4-7, Winnipeg;
  • Victoria General Hospital, 5 South, Winnipeg;
  • Lions Prairie Manor personal care home, Portage la Prairie;
  • Nisichawayasihk Personal Care Home, Nelson House;
  • Ochekwi Sipi Cree Nation Personal Care Home, Fisher River; and
  • Rosewood Lodge personal care home, Stonewall.
