COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Manitoba on Saturday

Manitoba Public Health announced 16 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, August 8, 2020, as of 9:30 am. The total number of lab-confirmed and probable cases stands at 507.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 1.23 per cent.

12 of the new cases are in the Prairie Mountain Health region, four new cases in the Southern Health region.

Today’s cases break down as follows:

Prairie Mountain Health Region

  • a male under nine
  • a female and a male between 10 and 19
  • two females and one male in their 20s
  • two females and a male in their 30s
  • two males in their 40s
  • a male in his 70s

Southern Health Region

  • two males and a female between 10 and 19
  • one male in his 40s

There are currently 148 active cases of COVID-19 in the province with 351 listed as recovered.

Nine people are being treated in hospital of which three are in intensive care.

The total number of deaths in Manitoba related to COVID-19 remains at eight.

1,263 laboratory tests were completed on Friday.
