COVID-19 case numbers dip slightly as nine deaths reported

Manitoba Public Health announced that as of 9:30 am today there are 107 new cases of COVID-19 in the province and an additional nine deaths including:

  • a male in his 60s from the Winnipeg health region; 
  • a female in her 70s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to an outbreak at Holy Family Home;
  • a female in her 70s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to an outbreak at Convalescent Home of Winnipeg;
  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to an outbreak at Poseidon Care Centre; 
  • a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to an outbreak at Poseidon Care Centre; 
  • a female in her 90s from the Interlake-Eastern health region, linked to an outbreak at Kin Place in Oakbank;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to an outbreak at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to an outbreak at Holy Family Home; and
  • a male in his 90s from the Prairie Mountain health region, linked to an outbreak at Grandview Personal Care Home.

The current provincial five-day test positivity rate is 12.6 per cent. The test positivity rate in Winnipeg is 12.4 per cent. The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 24,252.

The data shows that of today’s cases, 10 are from the Interlake-Eastern health region, 18 from Northern health region, 12 from the Prairie Mountain Health region, 24 from Southern Health region and 43 from the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 343 people being treated in hospital for the virus of which 250 are active cases and 93 people are no longer infectious. There are 37 people being treated in intensive care for COVID-19 related issues.

As of today 654 Manitobans have died from COVID-19.

There are currently 4,442 active cases. 19,156 people are listed as recovered.

There were 1076 tests processed yesterday bringing the total number of tests since February to 416,970.

An outbreak has been declared at the St. Paul’s Personal Care Home in The Pas.

Manitoba Public Health is advising that people only leave their homes for essential purposes, avoid crowded spaces, physically distance and wear a mask in indoor public places.
