On Thursday October 13, 2016 crown prosecutors stayed charges of assault and uttering threats that were laid against Thomas Steen over an incident that allegedly happened at a Winnipeg restaurant in 2014.
According to a Crown statement the charges were stayed against the former City Councillor and Winnipeg Jet after a thorough review was undertaken.
When a charge is stayed prosecutors have up to one year to reinstate those charges.
Steen is scheduled to play for the Jets alumni team in the upcoming Heritage Classic at Investors Group Field.
