COURTS | SASKATCHEWAN MAN FAKES DEATH TO AVOID SENTENCING FOR CRIME IN MANITOBA

The Mounties always get their man and in this case they got John Malcom Ross a 44 year old Saskatchewan man who faked his own death to avoid being sentenced for the crime he was convicted of in Manitoba.

In April Ross was convicted in Manitoba for sexual interference and was scheduled to be sentenced at a hearing on September 8,2016 however that never happened because according to RCMP he went missing on August 15 at a Provincial park near Kyle Saskatchewan.

A warrant was issued when Ross failed to show up for his sentencing.

After Ross was reported missing police began a massive search that used planes and divers to look for the 44 year old man. After days of searching there was no sign of Ross.

Fast forward almost two months to October 6, 2016. Police found Ross at a residence in the town of Tomkins, Saskatchewan where he and his wife were arrested.

On Tuesday Ross plead guilty in a court in Swift Current and was given three months in jail for public mischief and obstructing a police officer.

He told court that he thought that if police thought he was dead, he would avoid having to face up to the charges in Manitoba.

So much for that plan!
