Couple’s crime spree ends in arrest by RCMP

Selkirk RCMP have taken two suspects into custody after a series of robberies and a carjacking on Tuesday, October 26, 2021.

Police say they became aware of several armed robberies just after 10:00 am. The robberies occurred at several businesses in Selkirk over a short period of time.

As officers began looking for the suspect vehicle they learned that it had been involved in a collision on Highway 9 near Provincial Road 410. The suspects then stole an SUV at gunpoint, say police.

Patrol units already in the area quickly located the stolen SUV travelling south on Highway 9. The suspects attempted to flee but crashed the SUV. both suspects were captured a short distance away after a short foot chase.

Police seized multiple firearms used in the crime spree.

A 29-year-old male and a 24-year-old female from the Powerview area are facing charges for their alleged involvement.

The male suspect was taken to hospital although neither suspect suffered serious injuries. Police say none of the victims were physically injured during the robberies.

RCMP continue to investigate.
